Industry expertise, business advice and access to grants drew in a new generation of Burnley business owners – that and a giant Jenga!
The Puzzled by Business roadshow, which is now touring various locations around Pennine Lancashire, has provided valuable one to one advice to local people who are interested in starting a business in construction-related fields.

The events, in Burnley town centre and Turf Moors Enterprise Haven, were presented by Elevate, the £160m housing renewal programme, through its Constructing The Future team.

Elevate wants local people to be involved in reconstructing Pennine Lancashire's housing and, as part of that, is keen to encourage new businesses to start and to grow. The Puzzled By Business campaign is part of that initiative.

Advice, training, support and grants are all available to newly formed businesses from across the construction trades, crafts and professions – plumbers and bricklayers, site managers and building surveyors – all can benefit from this scheme.

Donna Marshall, Project Manager for Elevate's Constructing the Future programme, said: "So many people in Pennine Lancashire work in or are interested in the construction industry and don't realise the benefits they can reap from working for themselves.

"People are simply puzzled by the idea of running a business, but we are here to make the transition to running a business clear to understand and achievable."
