SCHOOL pupils from Burnley looked at their future career opportunities at a special "World of Work" event.
Held at Turf Moor, it was hosted by Elevate's Constructing The Future scheme along with Lancashire Education Business Partnership, and brought together 120 pupils, including a group from Sir John Thursby Community College.

They were given a flavour of what it would be like to follow a career in construction, from building and plumbing to surveying and joinery, and the students had the rare chance to get some hands-on experience of the construction industry.

Sir John Thursby pupil Robyn Halstead (14) said: "I have really enjoyed today, it has been really interesting to learn about different jobs in the construction industry."

Mr Andrew Platten, head of Constructing The Future, said: "This is a great event for the young people to be involved with. It gives them a good idea of this type of industry and hopefully encourages them to bear it in mind when choosing a career."
