Team Burnley in the medals
TEAM Burnley grabbed three medals at the recent Spar Lancashire Youth Games.
Held in Blackpool, the side brought home one gold, one silver and one bronze for their efforts.
And it was football that was their forte, with all three medals coming in some form of that discipline.
Gold came in the Moderate Learning Disability (MLD) Under 14 Boys' football, while silver arrived in the Boccia, a ball sport for athletes with a disability.
And their medal haul was complete with a bronze in the MLD Mixed Under 12s football.
Other proud results included a fourth place for the MLD Under 16 Girls football team, and a sixth place for the MLD Boccia team.
Burnley Council's Sports Development Officer, Darren Wright, said: "We are so proud of all the children who represented Team Burnley at the Spar Lancashire Youth Games, and delighted they have returned with three medals.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank them all for the 100% effort they put in – they did Burnley proud.
"The Youth Games are organised to encourage young people to participate in sport and to help parents recognise the importance of sport in young peoples lives.
"The Games also recognise and highlight the work of Sport Development Teams such as ours, who are working hard, in partnership with local schools and volunteers, to engage young people in sport and improve their lifestyles."
