Strongmen launch national event
BURNLEY hosted the first round of the CNP Professional Strongman Premier League at the Fitness Factor last month.
Although the weather wasn't as kind as for the southern British Strong Man qualifiers, there was still a large crowd present all day to enjoy the first show delivered by 2 Bold Productions this year.
Eleven athletes competed across six events including a challenging Farmers Walk, Viking Motorcycl Press and, fans' favourite, the Atlas Stones.
Mark Westaby from York took the overall win, thanks in part to a fine performance with the Atlas Stones.
A solid performance from Adam Townsend (Moulton) placed him second.
And the battle for third place demonstrated just how close this contest was, with both Mark Lawson (Durham) and Simon Flint (Longeaton) finishing on equal points, though Lawson had the edge and claimed third place on count back.
