PADIHAM were frustrated by the ice and snow again as, for the fourth week in succession, the entire Vodkat League programme was postponed.
The Storks' trip to Ashton Athletic last Saturday fell victim to the weather, but Graham Howarth's side are scheduled to entertain Abbey Hey today at the Arbories (kick-off 3 p.m.).

League Fixtures Secretary John Reid has the daunting task of rescheduling all the cancelled games, with Padiham still to play 25 fixtures.

The situation is causing concern, but a lack of postponements up to the start of December has helped matters, and the Storks have already received a revised fixture list.

After today's game, Padiham are at home to Flixton on January 23rd, before a trip to Newcastle Town on the 30th.

In February, the Storks entertain Squires Gate and Congleton Town on the 3rd and 6th, before successive trips to St Helens (13th), Maine Road (20th) and neighbours Nelson (24th).

A home date with Formby on the 27th brings the month to a close.

In March, Padiham are at Glossop North End on the 3rd, and at home to Newcastle Town on the 6th.

Club secratary Alan Smith said: "It's obviously going to be a very busy end to the season for the first team, and it's going to involve a substantial number of midweek games.

"And while we understand the nightmare scenario the league's fixture secretary has, we are not happy about one fixture which involves travelling to Glossop North End on a Wednesday night.

"The original away fixture, which was on a Saturday, was postponed earlier in the season because Glossop were involved in the County Cup competition against a team with no floodlights, and had to play on a Saturday.

"This left us without a fixture that weekend through no fault of our own, and a rescheduled midweek date is to our disadvantage."

Padiham Reserves are at Irlam today.
