Jimbo breaks Forest scoring mark

A PENDLE Forest goalscoring record that has stood for over half a century was broken last week.
James Astin's double strike against Briercliffe Rovers took him to a staggering 85 for the campaign.
And that saw him overhaul the previous mark, set back in the 1950s by club legend Raymond Townsend.
Having watched James pass the 50-mark earlier in the campaign, Raymond took it upon himself to challenge the Under 12s star to aim for his record.
And with just one match of the league season remaining, Astin, affectionately known as Jimbo, completed his challenge.
And it prompted the two record breakers to meet at the clubhouse, where Raymond presented James with a special Pendle Forest football to commemorate his achievement.
Raymond also took the opportunity to talk about a few of his personal memories of his own record breaking season, including the producing of a newspaper cutting of a game in which he scored an incredible 16 goals.
