HAMELDON Community College are setting the standards in promoting sport and well-being.
And the Byron Street venue's pupils have also been rewarded for their efforts, achieving Physical Activity Healthy School status.
Over a four-month period, a group of Year 10 students worked tirelessly after school.
They produced a portfolio highlighting physical activity at Hameldon.
They also studied activities and asked the views of a range of pupils.
And they helped forge strong links within the community with Burnley Football Club, Shelle's Belles Cheerleading group, Grapevine Fitness, Energize and self-defence instructor Adele Scott.
Hameldon's School Sports Co-Ordinator Mark Nicolson said: "The project has allowed us to focus not just on competitive team sports, but non-competitive activities.
"Lunchtimes have proven very popular, with the inclusion of new activities, resulting in a wider range of students taking part."
The project will now be used as an example to other schools in Lancashire, and project leader Louise Allison said: "It is excellent we have been recognised for providing a good range of physical activity for all students, and are helping towards a healthy lifestyle.
"The project team must be congratulated on the excellent portfolio produced, as it clearly reflects the hard work, dedication and time that the students put in."
The school also excelled as they achieved a clean sweep in the Burnley Inter-Schools Gymnastics competition.
Hameldon won Level One, Two and Three, and achieved much individual success.
Jenny Smith, of Year 7, won a silver medal at Level One, while at Level Two, Marsha Banks, of Year 9, and Year 10 pupil Carlie Gladstone earned silver and bronze.
Alex Clarke, of Year 11, finished second at Level Three.
