CHRIS O'Brien and Shayne Singleton return to home turf on Sunday afternoon as The Muni in Colne hosts big-time boxing.

The VIP Promotions Remember the Titans bill features the local pair, as well as welterweight Kenny Anderson, light middleweight Trevor Crewe, super flyweight Kieran Farrell, super middleweight Warren Tansey and light middleweight Derek Greave.

Welterweight O'Brien defends an unbeaten professional record which has seen him earn six wins in seven outings, with the only blemish being a draw against William Warburton in a real scrap at Colne in August.

Light welterweight Singleton, meanwhile, has two stoppages from his two fights so far after taking impressively to life in the professional ranks.

The pair had yet to be matched up at the time of going to press, but Kevin Maree, O'Brien's coach, expects an entertaining show: "We're delighted to have Kenny Anderson on the bill, he's a Commonwealth gold medallist, and if he comes through on Sunday, he's on for a British title eliminator on January 18th.

"We've had the likes of Michael Gomez and Yassine El Maachi down at Colne, and Kenny is another big coup for us."

O'Brien is a work in progress and certainly adding steel to his silky skills.

Maree said: "He had a bad night last time out at Colne when he drew, but he hadn't been feeling well and has improved massively since then.

"He's really been on fire in the gym, and I'm expecting a good display.

"We need to keep Chris winning, get into double figures and then look down the route of an Irish title fight, get over there on a big bill, and it would be like a home fight for him over in Dublin, where he has a lot of family.

"We'll see how he goes, but he's been busy over the last year or so, and there's no massive rush with him."

Maree has also been impressed with Singleton, who trains in Bolton: "He's doing really well, he's had two fights and two really quick wins, and he's a lovely lad."

Tickets for the show are £30, and you can pay on the door at The Muni.
