Burnley suffer derby defeat

BURNLEY Tennis Club suffered a 4-1 defeat against neighbours Crow Wood A in the Slazenger East Lancs Tennis League Open Division One.

Danny Taylor and Ken Greenwood lost both their rubbers, the first 1-6, 3-6 and the second 4-6, 3-6.

Burnley's second pairing of Ian Wolstencroft and Simon Finnan, had mixed fortunes in their two rubbers.

They lost to Crow Wood's second pair in very hard fought match, 6-7, 7-6, 3-6, but then they had an excellent result over their first pair, winning the rubber 7-6, 7-6.

In the Open Division Three, Burnley C beat Burnley D 5-0.

Phil and Teasdale and David Hodgson beat Dan Cranefield and Darren Bradshaw 6/4, 7/6, then followed it up with a win over Peter Ashworth and Danny Moorhouse, 6-1, 7-5.

Alun Heywood and Ethan Herron beat Ashworth and Moorhouse 6-1, 6-4, and then beat Cranefield and Bradshaw 6-4, 6-4.
