HORRENDOUS driving conditions led to chaos on the M65 today.
Drivers were stuck in traffic for two hours in some cases after a crash between junctions 11 and 12 on the motorway and two further accidents on the M65 towards Blackburn.
The accident on the border of Burnley and Brierfield was caused after a car skidded and lost control due to the bad weather. An Audi A4 that was following the car was forced to brake suddenly and a BMW 728 had to swerve to avoid the Audi. The BMW then careered into the central reservation before both cars collided.
Sgt Michelle Waddie, of the motorway police, said: "Fortunately nobody was injured in the crash but the cars were quite badly damaged. The car that originally skidded carried on with its journey.
"One of the cars was in lane two of the motorway for 45 minutes which is why the traffic was so bad."
