A MOTHER, her daughter and friend are preparing for a life-changing trip to Africa working with orphans.
Pharmacy technician Mrs Carole Livesey (46), her 16-year-old daughter Natalie and friend Claire Bates (19) will fly out to Tanzania in July to teach English in an orphanage in the poverty-stricken country.

It will be the first the trio has ever done anything like this and Mrs Livesey, of Church Street, Hapton, admits she is nervous but excited.

She said: "Representatives from the Bethany Project visited our church, St Margaret's in Hapton, to talk about the orphans in Tanzania and what people could do to help.

"I have never been to Africa so I'm a little apprehensive. However, I think it will be a life-changing experience particularly for Natalie and Claire. It will help them appreciate just how lucky we are in this country."

The trio will be working with orphans aged from three to 18, some of whom sang at a fund-raising night for the trip at the Winchester Club, Hapton, last week.

The night, which also featured singers from It's My Party, raised more than £500 towards the £3,000 needed for the trip.
