MOVING tributes have been paid to popular teenager Harrison Hartley at an emotional funeral attended by hundreds of family, friends, classmates and school teachers.
More than 200 people, including dozens of pupils from Hameldon Community College which Harrison attended, came to pay their respects to the 14-year-old, who was killed after being hit by a car on the M65 last month.

Around half the mourners could not fit in Burnley Cemetery Chapel and listened to the service outside on loudspeakers.

Three of Harrison's favourite songs were played at the service – "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt, "The Reason" by Hoobastank, and "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" by U2.

Canon Peter Hapgood-Strickland conducted the service, and paid tribute to the Rosegrove teenager, who died on March 3rd, two days after his accident.

He said: "He was a young man who knew how to enjoy life. He had a lovely way of making those around him happy, especially his mum, niece and nephew, dad and sister. Caring and looking after people, that was his nature, but he wasn't a saint. He was a typical 14-year-old lad who knew how to get into mischief."

Hameldon headteacher Miss Gill Broom spoke of seeing Harrison every morning and added: "He had a sense of humour and was polite and well-mannered. As soon as he walked into the room he lit up the place with his smile. Everyone described him as a loving and kind young man, and he always put a smile on your face no matter how low you were feeling."

Following the service, Harrison was laid to rest by his family in Burnley Cemetery. Several of Harrison's organs were donated according to his wishes as a donor and his family hoped that through his own tragic death Harrison could give others the gift of life.
