A BURNLEY couple were rushed to hospital after being savagely attacked on their doorstep.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the couple were assaulted by a gang of yobs with a large piece of wood at their Lyndhurst Road home about 3 a.m. on Saturday.

The man was smashed around the head with the wood, kocking him unconscious, and the woman suffered bruising to her arm after they were set upon after arriving home following a night out. Both were taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.

The group of about 12 youths are described as being a mix of boys and girls, mainly boys, all white and aged 14 to 17.

It is believed one of the girls involved has shoulder length, blonde hair and was wearing a pink and black top.

One of the boys has been described as being 5ft. 7in. tall, about 15 years old, with short dark hair. He was wearing a white or light coloured T-shirt and dark-coloured bottoms.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Burnley CID on 01282 472144 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

The problem is with attacks like this the kids are protected by the police,ie.if this person who was attacked was a fighter and fought back and injured one of these thugs the police would prosicute him,and theres no doubt about that it happened to me.The law protects the attacker and prosicutes the victor, even if he was just going about his business lawfully.
