A NEW headteacher has been appointed for struggling Padiham "super school" Shuttleworth College.
Mr Martin Burgess (58) joins next term, April 21st, and will replace former headteacher Andrew Mackenzie, who resigned last week over fears for his health.

Formerly headteacher at Nelson's Edge End High School for 13 years, Mr Burgess has been in charge of Skerton Community High School, Lancaster, for more than two years. The school was in special measures when he took over but Government inspectors from Ofsted agreed to take it out of special measures in February 2006, a term earlier than expected.

Shutttleworth College was inspected by Ofsted last month and has been placed in special measures

Mr Burgess said: "I am looking forward to going back to East Lancashire and being part of the team that takes Shuttleworth College onwards and upwards."

Yep, I'm sure that the school's pathetic performance is completely down to the headmaster. This ought to sort everything out.

Seriously, what will it take for them to admit that it's simply not working? To solve anything they need to do more than draft in another puppet.
