A SPECIAL memorial is being planned for popular teenager Harrison Hartley who died after being hit by a car in the fast lane of the M65.
Harrison's closest friends and fellow pupils at Hameldon Community College are to meet with teachers and staff to plan a fitting tribute to the
14-year-old, who is thought to have gone on to the motorway to retrieve a football.

Headteacher Miss Gill Broom said: "Harrison's friends have got a lot of ideas and want to do something special to remember him by.

"A large number of students are very upset about Harrison's death and the teachers and staff have been very affected too. He was an incredibly popular boy who was always smiling and who had a very caring side too.

"I spoke to Harrison's mum, Donna, and she said the thing Harrison would want most is for everyone at the school to keep smiling."

Messages have been flooding in to the Burnley Express website's book of condolence, which was set up to let people share their memories of Harrison and pass their sympathy on to his family. Play your part at http://www2.burnleytoday.co.uk/condolence/index.html

Some of Harrison's friends have also set up a website devoted to him at www.HarrisonHartley1992-2007.piczo.com.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, March 15th, at 11-30 a.m. at Burnley Cemetery Chapel.
