A 39-YEAR-OLD man has been warned he faces a possible prison sentence after admitting slapping a five-year-old boy across the face because he was "winding him up".
Hyndburn magistrates heard Jason Wayne Hayes admitted hitting the child more than once but claimed he could not remember how many times.

But an officer who saw the child, who cannot be named for legal reasons, identified a hand-shaped mark on the side of his face.

Hayes, of Merton Street, Padiham, and formerly of Elizabeth Street, Accrington, admitted assaulting the boy in Accrington. He was remanded on bail for the preparation of reports with a warning that custody would be a possible outcome.

This is politcal correctness gone mad... This is the true reason why kids are killing each other with guns and knives, because nobody gave them a good slap to show them its wrong!

Of course it's not political correctness gone mad! We're talking a FIVE year old boy being slapped across the face. What could he have possibly done to deserve this. If I were to walk up to you in the street and slap you round the face I would be done for assault...How is this ANY different?

You are 100% correct Graham, but it's not the kids who are to blame it's the 'human rights at any cost' cretins like 'Smiley shark' who are responsible for the lack of discipline and respect among todays youth. I recommend he reads a little William Golding! As for the well researched story, what do you expect from the hacks at the B.Express.

FYI J Bull - He is a she - And I can guarantee that my child IS disciplined albeit in a non violent manner! He has respect because he is brought up in a loving and caring come and is taught right from wrong in the CORRECT manner.
Are you trying to say that because my son isn't violently assaulted by myself or my husband that he will grow into a life of gun/knife crime.
Lazy parenting is the reason for the above - Not, not giving them a good slap at any opportunity when a parent is too wound up and losing their temper, resulting in them not being to deal with the situation like an adult.
