Man needed 18 stitches after gang attack in Burnley park

A 21-YEAR-OLD man was attacked by a gang in Burnley park which left him needing 18 stitches.
Police are hunting four youths who set upon the man in Rakehead Park, near Burnley General Hospital, last Thursday morning.

He was hit once in the left ear which left a gash needing treatment at the specialist facial unit at the Royal Preston Hospital.

An investigation was launched into the wounding which police say happened between 5-45 a.m. and 6-15 a.m..

One of youths involved in the attack was described as white, 5ft. 9in. tall and wearing a dark hooded top.

An appeal has been made for witnesses who may have seen the incident or who saw anyone in the area at the time.

Police said the victim was wearing a distinctive grey jumper with black horizontal stripes.
