THREE schools in Burnley and Padiham - Shuttleworth College, Sir John Thursby Community College and Unity College - will each be receiving a major cash boost.
The schools have already been approved by the Government as a National Challenge Trust, a transformational solution that gives them the immediate additional support they need and improved governance and leadership to deliver sustainable year on year improvements.

Vernon Coaker, Minister of State for Schools and Learners, has told Burnley MP Kitty Ussher he has approved the School Improvement Plans which set out how the Trust will work with the schools to raise standards, and has approved the release of £572,150, £668,550 and £590,200 respectively in funding to support the implementation of the plans.

Mrs Ussher said: "I'm really pleased Vernon Coaker has designated this extra money for schools in Burnley. I'm sure the schools will put the money to good use, and continue to improve year on year".
