AN elderly care worker was viciously attacked and robbed by three teenage girls after visiting a house in Burnley.

The 60-year-old man had just left a house in Reynolds Street, on Wednesday at 8-30 p.m. when he was jumped by the cold-hearted gang.

After pushing him to the ground, they grabbed his wallet and ran off in the direction of Gainsborough Avenue towards Manchester Road.

The man, believed to be from the Blackburn area, was said to be in shock but suffered no serious injuries.

Police are appealing to anybody who may have seen the attack and DC Marc Craven said: "Obviously we are asking anybody who has seen or heard anything to come forward and help us with our inquiries."

He added: "We have had no similar crimes involving a gang of young girls in the area and would appreciate any members of the public coming forward to offer up any information they may have."

Anybody with any information should contact DC Marc Craven or DC Neil Marr on 01282 472242 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
