A BURNLEY man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in the stomach.

Police and ambulance crews were called to a house in Padgate Place around 5-30 p.m. yesterday where it is reported that they found the 38-year-old with the blade still embedded in his abdomen.

He was rushed to the Royal Blackburn where the knife was surgically removed and his condition is said to be stable.

Det. Insp. Sion Hall of Burnley CID said: "A 38-year-old male was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital with a knife wound. It was a nasty injury but not thought to be life threatening."

• Detectives have arrested a woman in her 30s in connection with the incident.
