AN exciting project saw youngsters from all over Burnley working together to create special artwork with the backing of Prince Charles.
Groups of Year 7 students from each of the five Burnley high schools have been taking part in the innovative workshop being run by The Prince's School for Traditional Arts, held at the Burnley and Pendle Faith Centre.

The workshop is the first in a series to be held over the next 12 months and forms part of Lancashire County Council's Building Schools for the Future initiative.

The aim of these is to encourage pupils to develop knowledge and skills that are an important part of the new Key Stage 3 National Curriculum such as creativity and cultural understanding.

The pupils worked together to produce three-dimensional artwork, which will be placed in the new Faith Centre at the new Burnley College campus, opening in September.

Mr Terry Murnane, community faith co-ordinator, said: "The young people have worked extremely hard this week, learning new skills and producing beautiful artwork.

"The fruits of their work were shared with their parents at the Faith Centre towards the end of the week, to complete a very valuable and enjoyable workshop for our young people."
