A HEADTEACHER at one of Burnley's "super" schools has resigned.
Mr Andrew Mackenzie, headteacher of Shuttleworth College, will leave his post tomorrow.

Speaking about his decision, he said: "I am totally committed to supporting Shuttleworth College to move forward and move out of special measures as soon as possible.
"As a result of concerns I have for my own health, I believe that it is in the best interests of the college that it has a new leader to take it forward at this vital time.

"I would like to thank staff, students, parents and carers for their support and hard work during what has been a challenging reorganisation for all involved."

Burnley and Lancashire County Council owe Mr Mackenzie a great debt of gratitude for the dedication and effort he has put into Gawthorpe and Shuttleworth over the years. His sole aim seems to have been to improve the standard of education of children in Burnley and Padiham and work tirelessley to make the best of a bad BSF lot. I hope the media is proud of the way it has supported the belitteling of headteachers in Burnleys "super schools" (a phrase prompted by them and the LEA, not Mr Mackenzie and his colleague).

We all know the issue here is not standards of education but forced integration it's as simple as that.
