CHEEKY Clarets striker Robbie Blake has shed some light on his goal celebration at Coventry.

Blake scored his first goal since his brace against Watford in March to hand Burnley an 88th minute lead at the Ricoh Arena.

And he wheeled away to the away fans before dropping his shorts to reveal a bright red pair of y-fronts bearing the slogan "Bad Beat Bob".

Blake explained the stunt was a joke at his expense, due to his legendary reputation for being an unlucky loser at poker.

He said: "A bad beat is when you have a good poker hand that is a clear favourite to win, but is beaten by another hand.

"Every time we play for coppers on the bus to games, I think I am miles ahead and it always turns out that the only card someone needs to beat me, they get!

"When Clarke Carlisle told me he'd got me a present and I had to wear them at Coventry, I said 'no problem'.

"Then he turns up in the changing rooms with these bright red slips with 'Bad Beat Bob' on the backside.

"He said 'if you score, you have to whip them bad boys out' and what great timing!

"Just when I needed a goal, it happens."

Blake was booked however, and while he will wear the now-lucky pants again, he won't be revealing them to all and sundry!: "I'll have to wear them every week now, but I might have to keep them under wraps or I'll end up with a suspension!"
