GOAL hero Kevin McDonald felt the result at Eastlands underlined Burnley's strength of character.
After seeing a two-goal lead wiped out by the billionaires of Manchester City, the Clarets fought back from 3-2 down to earn their first away point in the Premier League, courtesy of the 21-year-old's late leveller.

The young Scot bounced off the bench to score his first goal since last December, and he felt a point was justice: "Throughout the game we've been good.

"The goals were lost, but we can cut that out of our game.

"They were bad goals to lose. But the goals we scored and the play throughout the game was unbelievable really.

"Even when we went 2-0 up we were still relaxed and did what we needed to do.

"It was a bad time to lose a goal (before the break) but we kept on going, we never let our heads go down, and we were worthy of a point at the end of the game.

"To sit and watch from the side then come on in the second half. It's a great performance and we got our rewards.

"Some people think that, playing against players like that, to go 3-2 down we'd blown our chance, but we stuck at it, we never let our heads go down and we were worthy of a point at the end of the game.

"We could have pushed on to score again but I think at the start of the day if you'd have offered us a point we'd have taken it here."

McDonald replaced Andre Bikey in midfield, and ended up doing a shift on the left, before popping up in the area to finish Steven Fletcher's deft headed lay-off, and he said: "I don't think I would have scored if I'd smashed it.

"I needed to take my time on it and luckily enough it hit the back of the net.

"If Fletch had shot, I'd have had a right to say something, if he missed his chance. "But the type of footballer he is, he's an intelligent player and he can see me making that run.

"It's a great ball, right in front of my path. I don't need to adjust it or anything.

"It's an unbelievable lay-off by him."
