OWEN Coyle may well have just returned from a well-earned break, but the hard work has already begun.
The Burnley boss will no doubt have had his phone glued to his ear since the Wembley success two weeks ago.

And it seems a familiar face may well be a top target, as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging in the best league in the world.

Reports have circulated in the North East of the Clarets tabling a £1.5m. offer for the 21-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Turf Moor.

Williams, who made his debut for Australia in Wednesday's 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Bahrain, was ineligible for the play-offs after being recalled by parent club Middlesbrough.

But after a successful three-month loan spell, he may well welcome another shot at the Premier League following the Teesside club's relegation to the Coca Cola Championship.

Coyle will no doubt we well aware of his need for strengthening at right back, with Everton defender Lars Jacobsen another name in the frame.

Operational director Brendan Flood spoke recently of Burnley's possible search for Scandinavian players with experience of English football, with Jacobsen seemingly fitting the bill.

But his agent, Karsten Aabrink revealed the Clarets have yet to make contact with Everton regarding a move: "There has been nothing but maybe it will happen.

"I don't know if they (Burnley) are interested, I only heard about it when I read it in the press.

"There is interest from other clubs, but Lars' first option would be to stay at Everton.

"He feels he has returned to the level he was at before his injury and he is pleased with how David Moyes has treated him."

As for Jacobsen welcoming a move to Turf Moor, Aabrink added: "I cannot say yes when it is only in the press, but of course I'm always happy when my players have interest."

The 29-year-old appeared as a second-half substitute in Everton's FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea, and is thought to be keen on remaining in the Premier League after his one-year deal at Goodison Park came to an end.
