GRAHAM Alexander has signed a new one-year contract at Turf Moor.
The Scottish international who started every one of Burnley's 61 games in all competitions last season, has extended his deal until the summer of 2010.
The 37-year-old had a pivotal role in the Clarets' promotion campaign, where he played over 5,300 minutes of domestic football, missing only 26 minutes.
He was named players' player of the year at the club's official player of the year awards, and walked away with several of the supporters' clubs gongs.
Talks were held over a new contract before the turn of the year, a deal agreed verbally in April.
Owen Coyle has left no one in doubt as to how highly he values the
Preston North End legend, describing him as "a perfect role model for anybody aspiring to be a top player".
You can read more of what Owne Coyle has to say in tomorrow's Express.
"From day one when I came in, he's been a godsend, he's the type of player you want to work with. If I ask him to do a job, I know it's going to be done the way I want it done."
