FORMER Burnley boss Steve Cotterill has landed a seven-week stint as boss of USL-1 side Minnesota Thunder.
Cotterill flew out on Sunday night and will be named technical director and head coach of the club, who Burnley have investigated a potential tie-up with, beating them 2-0 in a pre-season friendly last month.

He replaces Amos Magee, and Cotterill said: "They want me to appraise the playing staff and youth set-up and get the team moving again."

President Manny Lagos added: "We decided that a change in leadership might help rejuvenate this group of players. Despite going winless for two months, we're still very much in contention for a play-off position.

"Our goal of making the playoffs and competing for a championship remains the same despite the recent set backs."

Cotterill's first game in charge will be on Thursday against Charleston Battery at the National Sports Center in Blaine.
