Burnley have completed the formalities of the loan signing of Fernando Guerrero from Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle.
The 19-year-old Ecuador international has agreed a season-long loan deal at Turf Moor, with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the Barclays Premier League campaign.

The former Real Madrid U19 winger impressed as a trialist during Burnley's pre-season tour of America in July, scoring one of the five goals in their first game against VC Fusion before featuring against Portland Timbers, who the Clarets beat 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

Owen Coyle had been tracking Guerrero after watching the teenager in action for Real's reserve side Real Madrid Castilla.

And after swooping to make his sixth summer signing the Clarets boss believes the teenager, who does not require a work permit through holding Spanish nationality, could be one of the finds of the summer.

Coyle said: "Fernando is an exciting player for just 19-years-of-age and we believe he has unbelievable potential.

"We have agreed a loan deal, subject to an option to buy him.

"Obviously he is valued very highly by his club in Equador and if he comes in and shows us the quality we know he possesses I think he can go on to become a truly outstanding player."

Guerrero was recruited by Spanish giants Real Madrid at the age of 16 and was a regular for the club's U19 team, although failing to breakthrough into the senior side.

Despite that, Guerrero has been capped at international level and, in January this year, played in every game for Ecuador in the South America U20 Championships held in Venezuela.

After a loan spell with Ecuadorian top flight side CS Emelec last season, he moved to ply his trade with Independiente, of Ecuador's Serie B.

Guerrero, who will wear squad number 32, has travelled to Scotland with the Clarets squad ahead of tonight's game at Kilmarnock (7.30pm KO) and Saturday's final pre-season game at St Johnstone.
