TWO of Burnley's standout performers so far in their first Premier League season are eyeing new contracts.
Both Robbie Blake and Stephen Jordan would love to commit themselves
further to a club they have helped return to the top flight for the first time since 1976.

The pair are out of contract in the summer – along with Steven
Caldwell, Clarke Carlisle, Brian Jensen, Graham Alexander, Joey
Gudjonsson, Steven Thompson, Michael Duff and Christian Kalvenes.

Decisions will be made when the time is right, but Blake, in his second spell at the club, and Jordan are enjoying their time at Turf Moor and are eager to stay put.

Blake admitted: "It's just great to be back at a small club like Burnley and it's great to be in the Premier League with them.

"Football is a funny game and you never know where you might end up. Players who leave often get booed when they play against their former clubs, and when Steve Cotterill brought me back here I wondered what kind of reception I would get after leaving under a bit of a cloud.

"But after maybe a couple of weeks the fans were great and I knew I had made the right decision.

"Now it's the gaffer in charge and he's been different class with me.

"I'd have loved to have played (in the Premier League) for a lot more years.

I'm 33 now so hopefully I'll have a few more seasons in the top flight.
"That'd be great. I feel I've still got plenty to give.

"It's great to be the with a club like Burnley; a club that I love.
"I'm just looking forward to hopefully staying in this team and doing well."

Jordan has similar ambitions: "My contract's up at the end of the year, but I'd love to sign a new one. I think a few of us have been told that up to maybe January it won't be looked at until then.

"But if they want to do anything earlier they can always give me a shout!"

The defender arrived on a free transfer from Manchester City in the summer of 2007, and after an up and down first campaign, he had an impressive promotion season, and has started every Premier League game to date: "It's flown by since I signed just over two years ago.

"A lot's happened that you probably couldn't have imagined. I signed and I was playing, then the new gaffer came in and I was injured when he first arrived and I didn't really get in the team.

"I started last year, and what happened then was unbelievable for everyone connected to the club.

"But I love it here, everybody gets on so well. At other teams there's a lot of cliques and segments who stick together. Here everyone just gets on well with everybody. I don't know what makes it so good, but the banter and everything's unbelievable here.

"We're so together."
