A 21-year-old man has today been found guilty of the murder of Louise Evans.
Anthony Wood of Elizabeth Street, Burnley, had denied murder but was convicted after a two-week trial.

Nineteen-year-old Matthew Maw, of Elizabeth Street, Burnley, admitted the charge on the first day of his trial at Preston Crown Court.

Police were called to Towneley Park, Burnley, in the early hours of July 21st.

Officers were called by the ambulance service at 1-40 a.m. and on arrival patrols found 18-year-old Louise, who had sustained multiple knife injuries and head wounds.

Attempts were made to resuscitate her but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Det. Insp. Paul Broxson, of Lancashire Constabulary's Force Major Investigation Team, said: "I am very pleased with the outcome of this case but my thoughts are with Louise's family who have lost a daughter in such tragic circumstances and no outcome will change that loss. As For Maw and Wood, this was a particularly brutal and cowardly assault, planned and carried out together, and they deserve whatever sentence is imposed."

Maw and Wood will be sentenced on January 22nd.
