LANCASHIRE Constabulary, Blackburn Rovers and Burnley Football Clubs are urging fans to behave this weekend and not spoil it for the majority of supporters.
The eagerly awaited football match between the two historic clubs takes place on Sunday at Ewood Park with a 1 p.m. kick-off.

Three thousand Burnley fans will be travelling on coaches specially organised to get them to the game and Rovers fans are being asked to arrive in plenty of time for the match.

Match Commander Supt Chris Bithell said: "The excitement is really starting to build now and Sunday plans to be a fantastic day. It's the first time to two teams have met in the Premiership and we want the match to be remembered for events on the pitch as opposed to off it.

"We know there is a very small minority of people who may look to cause trouble. My message to them is simple, don't even bother. You will be dealt and put through the courts system. We will not let that small minority ruin what promises to be a historic day for two of our football teams. Letters have been sent to those people who are subject to banning orders warning them to stay clear.

"I would like to reassure the public that the primary aim of our operation is to ensure public safety. The vast majority of fans are law abiding citizens and we want to ensure they get to and from the game safely. This is an exciting family event and we want families to enjoy the day."
