New changing facilities have been created at Leyland's biggest park after pressure from Lancashire leagues.
The pavilion at Worden Park had been branded dilapidated and unsafe after a spate of break-ins and a lack of hot water.
Both the Preston and District League and the Lancashire Evening Post Sunday League had called for action to improve the facilities.
Some teams had even threatened to stop paying to play because conditions were so poor.
Now South Ribble Council has spent tens of thousands replacing the changing rooms.
Coun David Suthers, cabinet member with responsibility for leisure and cultural services, said: "We are very pleased with the new facilities and the response we have had from the local footballers.
"We were having a constant battle with vandalism on the old changing rooms."
The refurbishment works came after the Evening Post reported how teams felt unsafe leaving valuables in the lockers and had resorted to leaving valuables at the side of the pitch during matches.
The council has spent around £50,000 improving security, installing new hot showers and new electrics.
Improvements have also been made to St Cuthbert's football field on Lourdes Avenue, Lostock Hall.
Roy Rich, chairman of the Preston and District League, said: "The new changing rooms are a large improvement. The council responded to the criticisms from local leagues and Leyland teams in a positive manner."
Eamonn McNamara, of the Lancashire Evening Post Sunday League, added: "They've done a fantastic job and we're very pleased with the results. It's much more secure now."
