A jury was due to reach a verdict today in the trial of two police officers accused of causing death by dangerous driving.
PC Sean Schofield, 38, was driving on a training exercise when he crossed on to the wrong side of the road and ploughed head-on into an oncoming vehicle near Over Kellett, Liverpool Crown Court has heard.

Retired academic Peter Williams, 67, of Bolton-le-Sands, was behind the wheel of his VW Touran. He died from his injuries.

PC Schofield, and his instructor PC Andrew Massingham, 41, both deny causing death by dangerous driving.
