Clarets close in on Lansbury
Yesterday Burnley saw an initial bid for the 24-year-old laughed off by Forest boss Dougie Freedman as “too low to comment on”, but returned with a substantially better offer close to a release clause in Lansbury’s contract.
The Clarets tried to land the former Arsenal man last summer as they headed into the Premier League, but saw a £3.5m offer turned down, following which the player agreed a new three-year contract at the City Ground.

Hide AdBurnley went back in for him in January, upping their offer for £4, which was again deemed unsuitable.
It will take in excess of £4m to trigger his release clause, and Burnley have money to spend after the sale of Jason Shackell and Kieran Trippier, with Danny Ings’ valuation set to be agreed by a tribunal.
It is thought Forest may look for a player as a makeweight in the deal, as they are unable to spend on fees under a transfer embargo, and Clarets striker Lukas Jutkiewicz has been linked with a switch, with Freedman a fan of the 26-year-old, having taken him on loan while Bolton boss in the second half of the 2013/14 season.
