Burnley won 4-3 at Old Trafford 12 months ago, but although dominating possession at Turf Moor on Monday night, they lost out to two stunning goals from the visitors.
In their first home game in the competition since the semi-final second leg against Blackburn 18 months ago, the Clarets had the better of the first half.

Hide AdLuke Daly had a terrific effort from 20 yards cleared by the post, before Jamie Frost forced a save from Joel Pereira.
Khius Metz then headed just wide of the near post from Cameron Dummigan’s wicked cross.
After the break, the chances continued, as Kevin Ly drew a good stop from Pereira after a smart backheel from Frost.
Alex Whitmore again tested the United keeper from distance, before James Wilson fired wide at the other end.

Hide AdBut on the hour, Andreas Pereira crashed in a quite brilliant 25-yard effort to put United ahead.
And the visitors settled the tie with a fine solo effort from Wilson.
Frost felt he might have had a penalty after going down under a challenge from Callum Evans, but the referee was unmoved, but he recovered to twice go close late on, while Brad Jackson was denied in injury time.
Burnley had given a superb account of themselves, but it wasn’t quite enough on the night.
